How to give my cat medication? This is not just a pill, HELP! (Long question)?
I'm so sorry your kitty isn't well. But I'm glad you're trying so hard to do everything right for him. He's really lucky to have someone so caring in his life. He seems to be similar to my cat when it comes to taking medication. I've been through the same things with my cat. To treat a very serious illness, I had to give her medication and it seemed for a while that no matter what I tried, I just couldn't get the medication into her. Then I had to get creative. I don't know if this will work for you, but I'll offer the suggestion, anyway. Try mixing the herbal remedy with a little bit of liquid or canned food and then smearing it on one of his front legs. Cats don't like their bodies to be messy or what they consider dirty, and even if they get something on them that smells or tastes bad, they'll lick it off to clean themselves. So when your cat cleans his leg, he'll be ingesting the medication. This is the only way I was able to get my cat to take her medication, which was a pill that I had crushed and mixed into a little bit of food. She might not have liked the taste of it, but she DID lick it off of herself. I'm wishing you luck with this. Hopefully, with my suggestion or somebody else's, you'll be able to find a way to get the medicine into your cat.
